The synthpop duo from Romania mark their next release on Uninvited Artists, titled “Skyline”.
“Skyline” is the first release by Are You Anywhere from the upcoming “Away” album, incorporating influences from the cult scene of lo-fi house.
Vladimir Chopsticks, the band’s producer, remembers how it was created: “We wrote this song in the Hollywood Hills overlooking an amazing view of LA. We vibed with Dorian Micu, it was such an amazing experience I got it tattooed on my arm.”
The song explores the cost of success in a society that values style over substance. The way identities and friendships can be lost in a sea of flash and shine, while everything becomes repetitive and muted, is reflected in the way the instrumental is structured and ebbs and flows underneath the lyrics.
Disruptors of pop music from Bucharest, Romania — Vladimir Chopsticks (production, songwriting) and Silviu Pasca (vocals, lyrics) met in 2015 and went on to release music featured on La Belle Musique, receiving air time on international radio stations ranging from Dance Fm Bucharest to Virgin Radio. They’ve performed live on Romania’s biggest festival stages, opening for acts such as Foreign Beggars and Wilkinson.
Are You Anywhere is part of Uninvited Artists, an artist community and label formed by independent creators in Romania, gathering a large variety of music genres: from electro and pop-punk to jazz and indie folk.
